24th February – Narcissism
Henry Adeane
Do we think that the psychological structure of narcissism is primarily a defence, compensation or flight? This session is designed to help practitioners understand the complex and paradoxical subject of narcissism and tease out some of the theoretical and clinical issues in working with narcissistic disorders in order to support counsellors in their understanding and clinical skill.
13th May – Erotic Transference
Fiona Paul
Research shows that erotic transference and counter transference are commonplace in the counselling relationship, yet they are often not talked about. This session will normalise the presence of the erotic your practice. We will look at developmental concepts to help understand when and why they may emerge and consider how to work relationally and with greater awareness to reduce the fear that often occurs around the erotic transferential process.
17th September – Seven-eyed supervision model
Simon Blackmore
Are you getting the most out of your supervision? This session will provide an opportunity for you to reflect on how you understand the purpose of and use of supervision. Using each of the ‘lenses’ in the Seven Eyed Model we will explore the different aspects of supervision. There will be a creative element to this online training so bring paper and coloured pens to the session.
20th November – Projective identification from a Kleinian perspective
Danielle Lloyd-Edwards
Projective Identification is a concept that originated from the child analyst Melanie Klein whose observations of babies led to a theory on the internal world of the infant which continues to influence clinicians tot this day, regardless of modality. This session will consider the concept of projective identification from an object relations perspective. It will also look at the ways in which those ideas have been integrated into other modalities. There will be opportunities to look at client work through the lens of projective identification and to think together about how to work relationally with projections and their consequence.
